Businesses gear up for the Lincoln Christmas Market

This story is over

Businesses from far and wide are getting ready for one of the UK’s largest Christmas Markets in the heart of Lincoln’s historic city.

More than 280 stalls are anticipated to gather in and around Lincoln Castle, Cathedral and The Lawn between December 1 and December 4 for the 34th Lincoln Christmas Market.

Each year the market brings thousands of visitors to the city and allows businesses to highlight the best of their products with stalls costing a minimum of £1,302 for 3mx3m. This year the market was fully booked by October.

Stuart Maclaren, founder of Your Print Partner and Santa Sacks Company (read Stuart’s cover story) took a stall for the first time last year and is excited about going for a second year.

He said: “It was great to have a stand at Lincoln Christmas Market. We took our new brand Santa Sacks Company there and it was a great success.

“We were able to print personalised sacks whilst the shoppers browsed the stands. This year we will be back with an even bigger range from gifts to hampers and personalised products.

“It was a busy time last year with one line of stock. This year we have the option of 40 lines on the stand and it should hopefully help booster the quieter print time of the year we see normally.

“We think this is a great event for the city and hopefully it will help to boost a number of local businesses Christmas sales.”

This year businesses will have an additional feature to be able to showcase their wares.

Visit Lincoln will introduce a new digital screen which operates throughout the market displaying a video or a moving PowerPoint presentation for up to 30 seconds per advert at the cost of £500.

Claire McDowall, Principal Events and Culture Officer for City of Lincoln Council said: “Stall bookings have, once again, proved very popular.

“We started taking the bookings in July and all pitches had been taken by the beginning of October. Once again, we have more than 200 fabulous stalls from local, regional and national businesses.

“Last year, the market was named as the Event of the Year by the National Outdoor Events Association but we are not resting on our laurels and have looked for ways to improve the market, from introducing more authentic wooden chalets, additional performances by festive buskers and some fabulous food and drink.

“It promises to be a truly magical event and hope to see you there.”
