Bifrangi Lincoln workers set to strike over pay freeze

Workers at Bifrangi Ltd Lincoln are set to strike after the company announced a three year wage freeze.

Members of GMB Midlands and East Coast voted for industrial action with the company claiming they cannot afford to give the Lincoln workforce a pay increase.

In light of the three-year wage freeze, an overtime ban is set to hit on February 13.

In 2012 and 2013 workers received a 1% pay increase, though have not received any increase since then, angering many workers.

The GMB organiser, Colin Todd, said: “We acknowledge that the company has invested in plant and machinery on site and that is welcome, but they have failed to invest in their greatest asset, the workforce.

“This is why there are people leaving.

“The workforce see investment, new offices, plush floors and seating and wonder where is their cut?”

Bifrangi, a specialist forge company, installed a new £50 million screw press at the city facility and boasts to be the first of its kind in the UK.
