Plans for new Lidl in Boston

Lidl has submitted plans for a new store in Boston, creating 40 jobs.

Plans for the new food store on land to the north of a B&Q store on Westbridge Road, Wyberton have been received by Boston Borough Council.

If plans go ahead, this would see the erection of a discount store including associated car parking with 166 spaces, access, landscaping and other associated works on site.

The site would be situated to the north of B&Q on Westbridge Road

The site equates to approximately 1.28 ha to the south west of Boston town centre.

However, it is understood that the site was previously used as a sports stadium which was demolished after 1993.

The site would also provide dedicated pedestrian access to the store via the south east corner of the site, along with 10 cycle parking spaces.

There would also be seven dedicated disabled spaces and seven parent and child spaces to ensure that the development is accessible to shoppers with disabilities or those with additional accessibility requirements.

In order to minimise any disturbance to neighbouring residents and landowners, the store would have only one or two dedicated deliveries per day, with all goods carried in individual temperature controlled units that remove the need for noisy air conditioning units on delivery vehicles.

Councillors on Boston Borough Council’s planning committee will discuss the plans at a later date.
