Three out of the four Danwood sites in Lincoln are set to close, putting up to 250 jobs at risk, Lincolnshire Business has been told by staff at the company.
The business, which was purchased by national managed print service provider Apogee at the beginning of March, is expected to close its three sites at Whisby near Lincoln, including its head office — but the site at Witham St Hughs is understood to remain open.
Apogee declined to comment on this story.
Lincolnshire Business understands that this is part national review. Proposals are due to the poor financial position of the Danwood business and look to reduce costs.
Danwood staff told Lincolnshire Business that a large part of the workforce has entered a 45 day consultation period as part of a national operation.
One member of staff told Lincolnshire Business: “They called a meeting with all the staff yesterday and only around 10% of the workforce is not at risk.
“Three Whisby sites are set to close and the one site at Whitham will remain. There are between 200 and 250 people who have been told they face losing their jobs.
“We have been given a 45 day consultation period. Apogee did not give a reason for the decision. I believe this is just the first branch of people.”
No formal or final decision has been made on these proposals.
