A fire-damaged industrial unit in Scunthorpe has sold at auction for £40,000 – after being offered with a reserve price of nothing.
The unit, on the Flixborough Industrial Estate had been vacant for some time following the fire.
A considerable amount of interest was generated in the weeks leading up to the Mark Jenkinson and Son auction, which saw sales of £2.3 million after 23 lots, including the industrial unit on Bellwin Drive.
It was the third auction of the year for Mark Jenkinson and Son.
Adrian Little, Head of the Auction Department, said: “There was a lot of interest in this lot in the run-up to the auction – we had enquiries from all over the country as well as locally.
“The combination of the excellent potential for refurbishment, it being a freehold site and its location on an established estate with forecourt car parking made it effectively a bargain with it being on sale at a ‘nil’ reserve.”
