Military veteran brothers eyeing £1m turnover after first year of trade with glazing business

Lincoln-based family-run locksmith and double glazing company The Guardian Group is celebrating its first full year of trading and marking a considerable growth.

The firm says it is on track to turning over £1 million in 2018, 18 months after it was established by ex-military brothers Andy and Bob Carruthers.

Originally set up as Guardian Locksmiths 24Hrs, the business initially offered 24 hour emergency call-outs for commercial, residential and automotive access, as well as lock replacements and security upgrades.

Before long, Andy and Bob expanded their range of services to include glazing, boarding up, filming and key-holding for vulnerable people.

The glazing side of the business proved so successful that the brothers set up a separate business arm, Guardian Homestyle, which trades from a showroom on Burton Road in Lincoln.

Managing Director Andy said: “Bob and I are delighted at how well Guardian has taken off; just 18 months ago, we had a single van and one member of staff. We now have four vans, employ a team of 10 and operate across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire, with particular focus on all areas of Lincolnshire. Not bad given the current economic climate!

“I firmly believe the secret to our success is our commitment to offering fantastic customer service and quality products that represent genuine value for money.”

Operations Director Bob added: “We’re dedicated to the ongoing training and professional development of all our staff.”
