Teenage chilli entrepreneur growing a spicy empire in his Lincolnshire garden

Local teen businessman Jack Green is spicing things up across the county by growing his own chillies and turning them into sauces in his back garden in Dunholme.

When the 18-year-old realised his dad was growing too many chillies in his greenhouse and giving them away to his neighbours for free, the youngster decided to do something about it.

After becoming a dab hand in the kitchen at his home in Dunholme, Jack chose to make his own chilli sauces and sell the on for profit and in January 2016 launched his business before adding a website and online store earlier this year.

Jack runs Dunholme Chillies, boasts customers from America, Poland and Wales and is hoping his products will be red hot for the upcoming Christmas Market.

He grows the chillies in his Dad’s greenhouse in the back garden, cooks up the sauces in his kitchen and has his own store room in the house.

“We grew about four different varieties [of chillies] and we just got loads and we used to give them away to the neighbours and put them in every meal we could, it just got to the point where there was too many and had to do something about it,” Jack told The Lincolnite when we visited his home.

Jack now sells his homemade sauces, oils and vinegars online and attends various events with his stall.

“It’s like an investment in the future, I hope that one day it really takes off and we make a lot of money from it,” he added.

“Next year we’re hoping to get a proper piece of land so we can increase the amont [of production].”
