The owner of an award-winning Lincoln butchers is set to close his central Lincoln shop after 25 years at the helm.
A notice appeared informing customers that Elite Meats on Bailgate in Lincoln would soon be closing.
The butchers and game shop specialised in selling locally sourced meat from award-winning farms and also sold pies, cakes, pastries and condiments.
Owner Kenny Roberts had managed the business for over 25 years after taking over from former proprietors.
The businessman had previously played a part in campaigns to protect the geographical status of the Lincolnshire sausage, and had seen his popular shop take pride of place on the city’s first Monopoly board.
A sign was posted in the window of the shop informing customers of a closing down sale, stating “all stock must go”, on Wednesday, October 26.
The specific closing date is not known.
A few weeks before the closure announcement, Kenny told Lincolnshire Business‘ sister publication The Lincolnite he was ‘fed up’, stating works to repair sections of Bailgate were “like the last nail in the coffin”.
He said previously: “There’s nowhere for workers to park and there’s nowhere for customers to park. I think they should pedestrianise the area. The foundations are down.”
Kenny did not wish to comment about the closure of the business when contacted by reporters.
