A Ingham-based play specialist company has seen sales soar since one of its trampolines was featured in this year’s John Lewis Christmas advert.
Plum Products, which sells everything from tea sets and trampolines to swing sets and sand pits, has doubled export turnover for the second consecutive year as well as raised its UK profile thanks to the John Lewis Christmas advert.
The rise in exports is due to increasing sales in the Middle East, which is currently the company’s strongest market.
Plum has also secured new deals in South Korea and Thailand with help from the Department for International Trade (DIT) and the Exporting is GREAT campaign.
Next year, Plum will launch a drop shipment sales operation across the whole of Europe, opening 90% of its range to nearly 300 million Europeans. It is hoped this will result in 100% growth for 2017.
Paul Schaffer, Commercial Director of Plum Products added: “We currently export to over 40 different countries in six continents, and the support of DIT has been instrumental in us being able to sell our products to suppliers all over the world.
“We also took part in trade visits to Poland and Hungry this year, which was fantastic.
“Due to the nature of our products we are typically much busier in the summer months, however with our product featuring in this year’s John Lewis advert and with our large indoor role play range we have made more plans than usual this Christmas!”
