The Priory Academy LSST’s young entrepreneurs have won three out of seven possible awards at the Young Enterprise Area Finals for their new children’s book currently on sale across Lincoln.
The Priory Academy LSST’s Team Fortitude competed against schools across the continent to design, develop, market and sell their own product or service.
The team of 15 sixth-form pupils have designed, wrote and illustrated a children’s book for key stage 1 children, aged between 4-7, about Lincoln’s treasured heritage, titled ‘The Tale of the Missing Magna Carta’.
The book is currently stocked in Lincoln Cathedral and the tourist information centre. Soon, the book will be available in the Castle shop too.
Retailers such as The Works have also shown an interest in the product, as well as the tourist information centre in Lincoln’s twinned city, Neustadt. Expanding into a foreign market would be a remarkable achievement for Team Fortitude.
William Wright, part of the marketing team, believes that the book’s theme is important as it highlights cultural ties that unify us: “Lincoln’s heritage is one that we can all be proud of. There’s no better way to express this pride than to teach primary school children about it in an innovative fashion”.
Team Fortitude will be attending the County Finals on Thursday, May 4 alongside the county’s top Young Enterprise businesses.
