Skegness and Spalding Brantano shops closed for good

This story is over

Administrators of value shoe retailer Brantano have closed two Lincolnshire shops due to underperformance.

The shops, which are located within Beales department stores in Skegness and Spalding closed their doors for good on Tuesday, Aprill 25.

Six people will be made redundant as a result of the move.

Tony Barrell, lead administrator at PwC, said:

“Unfortunately, it is not commercially viable to continue trading these concessions.

“Our thoughts are with the employees affected and we will support them at this difficult time, including in applying for open positions that currently exist in the store network.

“We continue to trade the rest of the stores, whilst engaging in ongoing discussions with interested parties about the potential sale of parts of the business.”

Tony Barrell and Mike Jervis of PwC were appointed as joint administrators of Brantano Retail Limited on 22 March 2017.

Brantano Retail Limited was acquired by a company controlled by Alteri Investors in February 2016 but experienced “difficult trading conditions”.

A sale of the company was explored, but the company was eventually placed into administration.

PwC have continued trade while conducting assessments and rolling out ‘clearance sales across stores.

Some 31 members of staff are employed at the remaining Brantano stores in Grimsby, Lincoln and Spalding.
