A Heckington butchers has been named Britain’s best by a national industry magazine.

Simpsons Butchers of Heckington near Sleaford, was awarded the illustrious best butcher’s shop prize by Meat Management at a ceremony on June 28 in Birmingham.

It has been a very successful few years for butcher Gary Simpson who has been awarded a number of regional and national awards since 2013 from Meat Trades Journal Britain’s Butcher of the Year in 2015 to Lincolnshire Poacher Butcher of the Year 2014-2018.

Simpsons have six shops across the county in Heckington, Sleaford, Spalding, Lincoln, Stamford and Pennells Garden Centre and there is also an online store which offers delivery service.

After the nomination from Meat Management, two members of the meat trade visited the Heckington store and judged the company’s traceability, quality of produce, butchering standards, display, staff knowledge, shop layout and customer service.

It’s testament to everyone’s hard work involved with Simpsons Butchers,” said Gary.

“A huge thank you must go to all our loyal customers who recognise the hard work that goes into the business.

“The recognition we have received from the industry nationwide over the last few years has been nothing short of spectacular.

“Hopefully we are putting butchery in Lincolnshire firmly on the map.

“Over the last couple of years we have had parties come and visit from France, Holland, Belgium, Ireland, Scotland and numerous businesses from the rest of the UK.

“As well as the natural growth of the company we have big plans for the future too, although I cant go into details as yet, it should be a period of excitement for everyone involved.”
