Plans have been submitted for the extension of Premier Inn in Scunthorpe.

The proposals lodged by Whitbread Group Plc would see the addition of 20 rooms at the site at Lakeside Retail Park on Gadwell Way.

Plans would cost around £1.4 million and would see the hotel have 101 rooms in total.

Plans for the new site

The hotel has previously expanded twice, with 20 additional bedrooms approved in 2005 and more recently, in June 2008, an application to extend the Premier Inn Hotel by 21 bedrooms was approved by North Lincolnshire Council.

The site currently comprises the existing 81 bedroom Premier Inn Hotel which is split over two buildings and the Beefeater Anchor restaurant with landscaping and car parking.

If approved a new two storey extension to the existing block on the northern elevation within an area currently comprising of car parking will be built.

Currently the car park comprises 123 spaces. The proposed extension would result in the realignment of existing parking bays with 118 spaces being retained including the retention of eight disabled bays and the addition of one disabled bay.

Councillors will discuss plans at a later date.
