A popular Sleaford gin bar has closed suddenly over the weekend.
Bar 51 on Southgate ceased trading on February 22 after only being open for six months.
Ryan and Hollie Blankley, who ran Bar 51, has said the reason for the closure has not been due to finances, stating in a Facebook post that the bar was ‘operating profitably’.
Bar 51 initially opened in August 2017, replacing El Toro, which moved to a larger premises on Market Place, Sleaford.
A partnership was formed between the owner of El Toro, Rick Thomas and Ryan and Hollie Blankley, however this has now dissolved.
Ryan and Hollie Blankley posted on their Facebook page: “As most of you are now aware, Bar 51, running from 51 Southgate, has ceased operating as of February 22.
“Our business partners took the decision to end the partnership without notice, and force the closure of the business, which had been operating profitably, by changing the locks and alarm system.
“Whilst this has been a dreadful time for us, and our staff who have now lost their jobs, it has also, once again, shown us just how great this community is at coming together.
“We are overwhelmed by the support we have received in person and on social media.
“We loved Bar 51 too, and are incredibly proud of what we accomplished in just over 6 months. We’d like to say a massive thank you to all of our customers: you made Bar 51 as much as we did.”
Lincolnshire Business has contacted owner Rick Thomas for a comment regarding the future for the premises, however at the time of writing has been unable to get a response.
