Lincolnshire New Look stores safe as firm announces plans for nationwide closures

Following the announcement earlier today that fashion retailer New Look plans to close 60 stores across the country, it has been confirmed that all Lincolnshire shops will remain open.

New Look, which currently employs over 15,000 people across the UK, plans to close 60 of its 590 stores in the UK.

This rescue deal is to prevent the company from going into administration after struggling financially.

The clothing store’s cutback is expected to affect 980 jobs, although it has been confirmed that where possible, employees will be redeployed to other shops.

Chairman of New Look Alistair McGeorge has said the cuts are “tough but necessary’.

This comes days after it was announced that Chimichanga on Brayford Pool will be closing. TPG, a private equity group which owns both Prezzo and Chimichanga, announced it will close a number of its venues across the UK, including Chimichanga in the city.

Toys R Us and Maplin in Lincoln also announced possible closures last week after both businesses went into administration.
