As restaurant chains across the country start to feel the pressure in 2018, these two Lincoln favourites are reportedly finding trading tough.
Reports suggest both Frankie & Benny’s and Carluccio’s are feeling the strain as they look into options to help both chains survive.
Owners of Frankie & Benny’s The Restaurant Group, which also owns Chiquito, Coast To Coast and Garfunkel’s, are said to be ‘reviewing their portfolios’ and are ‘exploring options’ for their restaurants.
According to the Financial Times, the company, which owns Frankie and Benny’s on Runcorn Road in Lincoln, saw a 3% fall in like-for-like sales in 2017.
It has also been reported that Italian food chain Carluccio’s, which has a restaurant on Lincoln High Street, is working with KPMG to look into options to help the chain.
Lincolnshire Business contacted KPMG in relation to this, however at the time of writing received a ‘no comment’ from the firm.
This comes days after it was announced that Chimichanga on Brayford Pool will be closing.
TPG, a private equity group which owns both Prezzo and Chimichanga, announced it will close a number of its venues across the UK, including Chimichanga in the city, however all Prezzo restaurants in the county will remain open.
This is part of a move to try and save the company as it in debts of around £220 million.
Will Frankie & Benny’s and Carluccio’s be the next restaurants to close?
